We have all done stupid things in a fit of momentary rage. We look back and say ‘What was I thinking?’ That’s precisely the problem. We didn’t think. We just reacted. This behavior goes by several names like ‘temporary insanity,’ ‘losin’ it’, ‘kirkin out’, ‘going postal’ and ‘temper tantrum’. Whatever you want to call it, it can cost you Big Time! In recent days, we have seen three talented NBA players suffer the consequences of poor anger management. Ron Artest (Metta World Peace) of the Los Angeles Lakers, Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics, and Amare Stoudemire of the New York Knicks are all missing major playoff games because they lost their temper. Subsequently, their coaches and teams have to redo their entire game plans. Unlike the regular season, the NBA Playoffs is like war! The theme is ‘Win or Go Home!’. At the most critical time of the NBA season, these players won’t play. They let themselves down and their fans who paid a lot of money to see them and cheer them on. Their teammates are forced to deal with a ‘Man Down!’ situation. On top of everything, these players will lose a lot of money for not controlling their anger. It is estimated that Ron Artest a.k.a ‘Metta World Peace’ will lose 348,000 dollars for his seven game suspension received after a vicious elbow to the head of James Harden. Wow!! Ron needs to have a serious talk with his elbow for robbing him like that!! The point is, anger if not dealt with correctly, can grow into something horrific. It can cost you more than you are willing to pay. We all have been there. The goal is to learn from our mistakes and grow. Hopefully, these three gifted men, with high profile jobs, can recover and  do better in the future. We all can do better. Seek peace and pursue it.
