10 Biblical Reasons For Husbands Not To Abuse Their Wives (physical abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse)

 1. God will not hear your prayers.

1 Peter 3:7

In the same way, you husbands should live with your wives in an understanding way, since they are weaker than you. But show them respect, because God gives them the same blessing he gives you—the grace that gives true life. Do this so that nothing will stop your prayers.

2. A man full of anger is considered by God to be a fool and will be brought to shame.

Ecclesiastes 7:9

Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools.

Proverbs 14:29

Patient people have great understanding, but people with quick tempers show their foolishness.

Proverbs 3:35

The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the legacy of fools.

3. Things that are important to you will be taken away.

 Proverbs 25:28

A man who cannot rule his own spirit is like a city whose walls are broken down.

4. When you hate your wife, you hate yourself.

Ephesians 5:28

In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself. No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church.

 5. Your son will learn abuse from you and will most likely grow up to abuse women also. He will have serious anger issues.

1 Kings 15:3

He (Abijam) committed all the sins that his father had done before him; his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his great-grandfather had been.

Ephesians 6:4

And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

 6. A man of wisdom and understanding is slow to anger.

Proverbs 16:32

He who is slow to anger is better than the powerful. And he who rules his spirit is better than he who takes a city.

Proverbs 19:11

A man’s understanding makes him slow to anger. It is to his honor to forgive and forget a wrong done to him.

James 1:19

So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;

7. A man’s actions born out of wrath and anger, will not produce Godly works.

James 1:20

For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

 8. Husbands and wives are spiritually connected. An abusive husband will destroy his wife’s self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. He will cause her to be unstable mentally and emotionally. His wife will suffer with fear, depression and anger.

Ephesians 5:23

For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

Ephesians 5:25

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.

Mark 10:7-9

‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

9. Your daughter will be confused about what Love really is. She will most likely grow up to date abusive men.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails.

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

 10. A continually abusive man is not a disciple of Christ. His actions do not reflect the character of Christ. You can’t obey the teachings of Jesus Christ and abuse women at the same time.

John 13:34-35

34A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” – Jesus

James 1:22

Don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

1 John 4:7-8

7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

If you are a man who is abusing your wife or any woman, Repent (turn away from this behavior) and seek counseling through professionals and ministries that help people with anger issues. Find some good men who will hold you accountable and will help you to overcome anger. Apologize to your wife, her family, and your family. Pray and ask God for forgiveness. Ask Him to fill you with his Holy Spirit and teach you what True Love is. Forgive yourself and commit your whole life to Jesus.  Pray, study and meditate on the Word of God continually.

1 John 1:9

If  we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Mark 12:30

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
